Best nail salon booking and POS software in Canada (2026): an honest buyer's guide.
This guide is written by the team behind Sammy Booking. We include our own product, we tell you what every competitor charges from its own pricing page, and we still tell you plainly when a competitor fits you better.
If you run an independent nail salon in Ontario or elsewhere in Canada, and you are weighing Fresha, FastBoy, DashBooking, Belle, Vagaro, GlossGenius and Booksy, here is who each one is genuinely best for, and where each one costs more than it looks.
For busy owners, in one paragraph
For an independent, often Vietnamese-owned nail salon in Canada, the best pick is Sammy Booking: a flat $29/mo with no commission and a free directory that sends you new customers, plus an optional AI receptionist add-on that answers the phone in English. The big marketplaces (Fresha, Booksy) reach more strangers but charge commission on new clients. The Vietnamese-brand all-in-ones (FastBoy, Belle) are familiar but cost more once modules stack up. Vagaro packs the most features, and GlossGenius is the most polished solo app. Here is the one-line version for each.
- Best overall for an independent Vietnamese-owned nail salon in Canada: Sammy Booking (flat $29/mo, no commission, free customer directory, optional AI receptionist add-on).
- Best big marketplace for discovery: Fresha or Booksy (but they charge commission on new clients).
- Best Vietnamese-brand all-in-one with POS: FastBoy or Belle.
- Best polished solo app: GlossGenius.
- Most feature-packed all-in-one: Vagaro.
Our methodology
We are the team behind Sammy Booking, so we are open about including our own product. To keep the guide fair, we judged every tool the same way, on the things that decide a nail salon's real bill and real growth. All competitor prices were checked in July 2026 from each company's own pricing page. Figures change, so confirm current pricing before you buy.

Prices checked July 2026 from each company's own pricing page and exclude card-processing fees, which every option charges. Fresha (and others) localize prices by country, so US and other regions differ from the Canadian amounts shown. Confirm current pricing before you buy. Competitor names are trademarks of their owners; this is an independent comparison.
The options, one by one, ranked
One honest strength, the real trade-off, what a salon actually pays, and who it is best for. Card processing is noted inside each blurb but left out of the head-to-head cost, since every option charges a processor.
Sammy Booking
Our pick for the independent nail salonStrength: One flat price with real lead generation attached. You pay $29/mo for core booking at any team size, and setup is free because we move your clients, services and calendar for you. The free directory of ~4,000 Ontario nail salons sends you new, clearly-labeled customers at no cost.
Trade-off: Honest trade-off: Sammy Booking is newer and Canada-first, the directory is Ontario-focused today, and it is built around nail salons rather than being a general spa or fitness platform. There is no commission, no percentage of payments, no per-booking or per-client fee and no contract. Google review management and a basic website are included free in the core plan. Beyond that, the Sammy AI receptionist is optional, priced in usage tiers from $29/mo (with a $79/mo Growth tier and a spend cap so the bill never surprises you), and managed SEO and Google Ads management stay flat add-ons at $79/mo and $179/mo (the ad spend goes to Google, not to us). You own your data and can export and leave anytime.
$29/mo flat core, AI receptionist from $29/mo usage tiersBest for: An independent nail salon, especially Vietnamese-owned, in Ontario or elsewhere in Canada that wants to keep all its money and still get new customers.
Fresha
Biggest marketplaceStrength: A huge global beauty marketplace that can put you in front of new clients, on top of a broad software core that is cheap to start.
Trade-off: The cost that surprises owners is the marketplace commission. The subscription is CA$29.95/mo solo or CA$19.95 per staff member, and Fresha charges a 20% commission (minimum CA$6) on each NEW client who finds you through the Fresha marketplace. That 20% applies only to new marketplace clients, not to your own-link bookings or returning clients. Payments get steered onto Fresha processing (2.29% to 3.30% plus a fee), SMS is 100 free then metered, and the AI Concierge add-on is CA$139.95/mo. It is not nail-specific and has no Vietnamese support, and it ended its “free forever” plan in 2025. When Fresha may fit better: if you run a large multi-location chain and want one global marketplace listing across many beauty categories, its reach is genuinely strong. See our Fresha alternative for nail salons.
CA$29.95/mo solo or CA$19.95 per staff, plus 20% on new marketplace clientsPricing checked July 2026: fresha.com/pricingBest for: A salon that wants maximum marketplace discovery and will accept commission on new clients to get it.
FastBoy Marketing
In-community Vietnamese brandStrength: The dominant, trusted brand among Vietnamese-American nail salons, fully bilingual VI and EN, with deep nail-industry knowledge.
Trade-off: FastBoy sells à-la-carte flat modules that stack: Go Booking $20/40/99, Go Check In $59/99/199 (plus up to $100 setup), Go POS $50/99/149 (plus $200 setup), Website and SEO $599 to $899 to build plus $59/79/149/mo, and Social from $150 setup. SMS is metered and it pushes its own “Fastboy Payment” card processing, so a realistic salon bill runs about $200 to $400/mo across modules. There is no free lead-gen directory, and the team is US-based in Houston. Our Sammy Booking vs FastBoy comparison goes deeper.
~$200 to $400/mo across stacked modulesPricing checked July 2026: en.fastboy.comBest for: A US Vietnamese nail salon that wants a familiar in-community brand and will pay for stacked modules.
DashBooking
Canadian all-in-oneStrength: A Canadian (Winnipeg) nail-heavy all-in-one with booking, POS and its own marketplace, so it fits the Canadian nail world well.
Trade-off: Pricing scales with appointment volume: $0/mo at 0 to 50 appointments, then ascending paid tiers whose exact prices are not published, so your bill grows as you get busier. Card processing runs up to 3% plus about 5c/SMS, and the AI receptionist is metered ($300 setup, $30/mo, $20/mo for the number, and $0.30/min). It is not Vietnamese-branded. To be fair, it charges no per-new-client commission.
$0/mo at low volume, ascending paid tiers as you growPricing checked July 2026: dashbooking.comBest for: A Canadian nail salon comfortable with volume-based pricing that wants a home-grown all-in-one.
Belle (BelleBiz)
Flat-fee Vietnamese incumbentStrength: A flat-fee all-in-one that is already an incumbent among Vietnamese-owned nail salons in Canada, with no payment cut and no commission.
Trade-off: Belle is flat-fee too, so the wedge here is not commission. Its tiers are Starter $55 (no POS), Growth $99, Premium $159 and Enterprise $229, with metered SMS ($40 per 1,000). The real entry point is $99+, because the $55 tier lacks POS, gift cards and payroll. The gaps that matter: no public API and no self-serve export, so your data is locked in (Sammy Booking has already migrated a salon off Belle), no AI phone receptionist, and it sends you zero new customers.
$55 entry, realistic start $99+Pricing checked July 2026: bellebiz.comBest for: A Vietnamese-owned salon that wants a simple flat-fee incumbent and does not need lead-gen, an AI receptionist or easy data portability.
Vagaro
Most feature-packedStrength: One of the most feature-complete all-in-one platforms, with booking, POS, marketing, payroll and a consumer marketplace for discovery.
Trade-off: The advertised base is low, about CA$35/mo in Canada, but Vagaro is modular and per-calendar. Each extra staff calendar (2 through 7) adds about CA$15/mo, so a 3-person salon is about CA$65/mo and a salon stacking add-ons lands around CA$100 to $250/mo. Processing is 2.75% plus 15c in person and 3.5% plus 15c keyed. It is not nail-specific or Vietnamese-branded, and it is US-first.
~CA$35/mo base, ~CA$100 to $250/mo stackedPricing checked July 2026: vagaro.com/en-ca/pro/pricingBest for: A larger multi-service salon or spa that wants the deepest feature set and marketplace exposure and will manage the add-on costs.
GlossGenius
Most polished solo appStrength: A beautifully designed, simple all-in-one that solo and small beauty pros love, with clean booking, payments and marketing.
Trade-off: It is US-first and built around US payments, and there is no lead-gen marketplace, so it does not bring you new clients. The plans are Standard $24/mo (billed annually, about $28 monthly), Gold $48/mo (annual, about $56 monthly) and Platinum $148/mo (annual, about $168 monthly), and as of July 2026 all plans carry a flat 2.6% per-transaction card rate, so watch the processing fee.
~US$24 to $28/mo Standard (billed annually)Pricing checked July 2026: glossgenius.com/pricingBest for: A solo or very small US nail tech who wants the most polished, easy app and does not need marketplace discovery.
Booksy
Strong booking marketplaceStrength: A large consumer marketplace and a strong, well-known booking app that helps new clients discover you, especially barbers and solo pros.
Trade-off: Booksy is $29.99/mo plus $20/mo per additional team member, so a 5-person salon is about $109.99/mo before processing. Its Boost marketplace charges a 30% commission on a new client's first visit only (a minimum of $10, capped at $100), not on every booking, and after that first visit you keep 100%. Processing starts from 2.49% plus 10c. It is not nail-specific or Vietnamese-branded.
$29.99/mo + $20/mo per additional staffPricing checked July 2026: biz.booksy.com/pricingBest for: A solo pro or small shop that wants marketplace discovery and will accept commission on first visits.

Start free trialSo which should a Vietnamese-owned nail salon in Ontario choose?
Keep it simple. If you want a big marketplace and will pay commission on new clients, choose Fresha or Booksy. If you want a familiar in-community brand and will pay for stacked modules, choose FastBoy or Belle. If you want the deepest feature set, choose Vagaro. If you are a polished solo US tech, choose GlossGenius.
If you want to keep all your money (flat $29/mo, no commission, no percentage of payments), still get new customers for free from the free directory of Ontario nail salons, and can add an optional, usage-priced AI receptionist that answers the phone in English while your hands are busy, choose Sammy Booking.
One honest caveat: if you need a huge existing consumer marketplace on day one, a marketplace player like Fresha or Booksy may reach more strangers faster, and that is a fair reason to choose one. Sammy Booking's directory is Ontario-focused and growing, so it is strongest for salons in and around Ontario today.

Frequently asked questions
Do I have to pay commission on nail salon booking software?+
No, not with every tool. Sammy Booking charges a flat $29/mo with no commission and no percentage of your payments. Fresha takes 20% on new marketplace clients, and Booksy takes 30% on a new client's first Boost visit. Belle, FastBoy, DashBooking, Vagaro and GlossGenius do not charge a per-booking commission.
Which software do Vietnamese nail salons use?+
Many Vietnamese-owned salons use FastBoy (bilingual, US-focused) or Belle (flat-fee, Canada), which are trusted community brands. Sammy Booking is the Canada-first flat-fee option with a free customer directory, and it offers an optional AI receptionist add-on that answers the phone in English.
Is Fresha or GlossGenius better for a nail salon?+
It depends on what you need. Fresha has a big marketplace that can send new clients but charges 20% commission on each one. GlossGenius is a polished US solo app with no marketplace, so it does not bring new clients but has no commission. For a Canadian nail salon that wants both no commission and free leads, neither fits as well as Sammy Booking.
How much does nail salon booking software cost per month?+
Core booking runs from about $24 to $35/mo (Sammy Booking $29 flat, Fresha CA$29.95 solo, Booksy $29.99, GlossGenius in the mid-$20s US, Vagaro about CA$35 in Canada). Real bills rise with staff seats, commission or stacked modules, so FastBoy and a stacked Vagaro or Belle setup often reach $100 to $400/mo. Card processing is separate.
Can I move my data if I switch nail salon software?+
With Sammy Booking, yes. We import your clients, services and calendar for free, and you can export your data and leave anytime. Some tools make this harder: Belle has no self-serve export, which locks your data in, and we have already migrated a salon off Belle.
Flat $29/mo. No commission. Free customers.
